Blood Drive

Each fall and spring semester AED hosts a Blood Drive in the Student Union through LifeShare Blood Centers. AED members, friends, and other individuals on campus are welcome to donate. This semester the event provided 88 units of blood to LifeShare! 

This semesters event is November 4th and 5th in Vieux Carre 325 in the LSU Student Union. Members will receive 1 service point for donating and 0.5 for everyone who donates on their behalf. 

Army Pediatrician Social Event

Come hear from Col. Joseph J. Novack, MD, Deputy Commander for Medical Services at the Brooke Army Medical Center in a small group setting on Thursday, October 24th at 5:00pm! Free food will be provided, and there will be a max of 30 students. Sign-ups have been sent in the weekly email, and members will receive 1 social point for attending. 

Full-Length Practice MCAT 

On Saturday, November 16th, AED and the Princeton Review will be hosting a full-length practice MCAT in 1253 Patrick F. Taylor Hall. Members will receive 1 social point for attending, and will need to bring their computer to take the test. Click here to sign up.

Pre-Med Day at LSUHSC School of Medicine in Shreveport 

LSUHSC Shreveport is hosting pre-med college students on Saturday, November 2nd. Students will get to tour the medical school , participate in intubation and suturing workshops, experience the gross anatomy cadaver lab, and meet and interact with current medical students. The cost is $100 and students can register here.
Halloween Food Drive 

Each year AED hosts an Annual Halloween Food Drive to help the needy families in the Baton Rouge area. The event collects food and on Halloween we deliver our donations to a neighborhood in Baton Rouge, so that those people will have a great Halloween. This is our way to give back to the Baton Rouge community. This year we collected 1,637 pounds of food for a total of 1,364 meals for those in need in our community! 


Suture Clinic

AED members will have the opportunity to attend a suture clinic this semester. Members will be able to learn various suturing techniques from Dr. Eddie Kwan and Dr. Christopher Riley, 2nd year dermatology residents from the San Antonio Military Medical Center. This year's suture clinic will be on November 2nd and food will be provided. There will be two sessions with a 20 student max. Session 1 is from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and session 2 is from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Members will receive 1 social point for attending. If you signed up and got a spot, you have been emailed with your session conformation. 

Health Professions Career Fair
Medical, dental, and other professional programs from the Louisiana area and across the country as well as several baccalaureate programs will be present to discuss your future with you.  This event is a great way to network, gather information, and explore careers in health care. This year's fair will be October 2 from 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. in the LSU Student Union Royal Cotillion Ballroom. Click here for more information from the LSU Olinde Career Center.
