Freshman/Sophomore Committee (FSC) of AED

What is FSC?
FSC is comprised of freshman and sophomore AED members who want to take a more active role in the organization by learning how to create, plan, and execute service events throughout the school year.

What are the benefits of joining FSC?

  • Meet other pre-med underclassmen who are adjusting to college (make study buddies, carpool, etc.)

  • Gain extra point opportunities (3 FSC meetings =  1 service point; Service events = 1-2 points)

  • Resume builder

  • Great experience if you’re planning to run for executive board in the future (10 out of 12 e-board have been involved with FSC)

  • Receive advice and guidance from upperclassmen co-chairs about being pre-med

How can I get involved in FSC?

  • Write your name, e-mail, and classification on sign-in sheet

  • There is no fee to join

  • Come to FSC meetings regularly and engage in discussions and events

  • Run for officer positions if you are willing to put forth extra time and commitment (Even though there are only four officer positions open, everyone in the committee will be on the same level and work as a team, so don’t be disappointed if you are not elected.)

    • 2 Freshman Chairmen

    • 2 Sophomore Chairmen

When and where are the meetings?

  • Meetings are usually held at 6:15pm before every general AED meeting in Life Sciences A101. Some additional meetings may be required however.

What kinds of events has FSC done in the past?

  • Blood Drive Table Sits & Sign-Up Party
  • Spring 2006: Health Day Carnival (Boys & Girls Club of Baton Rouge)
  • Fall 2007-2008: FSC Fall Fest (Ollie Steele Burden Manor)
  • Spring 2007: Under the Sea with AED (Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge)
  • Spring 2008: It’s a Magical Place to be with AED (Boys & Girls Club of Baton Rouge)
