Membership


AED MEMBERSHIP 

Membership Chair: Emily Mckinney (aedlabetamembership@gmail.com)

If all membership requirements are not met, a member will be considered INACTIVE for that semester. If all membership requirements are met, a member will be considered ACTIVE for that semester. A list of Active and Inactive Members is given to the LSU Pre-Med Committee each year.

Trelane will be accepting associate and national membership applications throughout the semester at each meeting.

Please make all checks payable to Alpha Epsilon Delta!

Associate Membership (Chapter Membership) 

·       Classification: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior

·       A ONE-TIME $5 Membership fee which will be accepted at any point in the semester

·       GPA Requirements:

           o   Science GPA of 3.0

           o   Overall GPA of 3.0

·       3 Meeting Points

o   This will only be excused if member has a valid MCAT practice course receipt, or a class                                schedule if that is where the conflict lies.

o   Any additional meeting points earned will be applied to gold or platinum status

o   Please send any meeting excuses to Bronson at aedemail@gmail.com

·       6 Service Points

o   May be earned ONLY through On-Going Service and/or the AED-Sponsored Events                                       presented at the meetings.

o   Any additional points earned will be applied to gold or platinum status.

o   Social event points do not count towards active status, but are applied to gold or platinum     status.

 

Semester in Which You Are Applying for Full Membership (National Membership)

·       Classification: Completed at least three semesters at time of application. (Ex: Sophomore going into their                         Spring Semester)

·       If you met the requirements for Full Membership for the Fall 2016 semester and you did not apply on                                   time, you can turn in your form and check ($120) to Trelane Dunn at the first and second meetings.

·       People who become eligible to apply for full membership for this spring (Spring 2017) should turn in their form               and check ($120) to Trelane Dunn at the last meeting of the Fall 2016 semester (November 15th)

·       GPA (Based off last semester’s GPA)

o   Overall GPA (with less than 60 hours): 3.5

o   Overall GPA (with more than 60 hours): 3.3

o   Science GPA (based on only BIOL, CHEM, MATH, and PHYS courses): 3.3

·       3 Meeting Points (Based off last semester)

o   This will only be excused if member has a valid MCAT practice course receipt, or a class                               schedule if that is where the conflict lies.

o   Any additional meeting points earned will be applied to gold or platinum status

o   Please send any meeting excuses to Bronson at aedemail@gmail.com

·       Though service points is not required to become a national member of AED, being active in the                                organization is recommended if you plan to use the LSU Pre-Med Review Committee.

·       The application must be TYPED! (Ignore filling out the initiation date and the GPA sections)

·       A ONE-TIME $120 application fee

 

Maintaining Active Full Membership (National Membership)

·       Classification: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior  

·       3 Meeting Points (Based off last semester)

o   This will only be excused if member has a valid MCAT practice course receipt, or a class                                schedule if that is where the conflict lies.

o   Any additional meeting points earned will be applied to gold or platinum status

o   Please send any meeting excuses to Bronson at aedemail@gmail.com

·       6 Service Points (Based off last semester)

o   May be earned ONLY through On-Going Service and/or the AED-Sponsored Events                                       presented at the meetings.

o   Any additional points earned will be applied to gold or platinum status. Again, see below.

o   Social event points do not count towards active status, but are applied to gold or platinum     status.

 

Gold/Platinum Membership Requirements

                     Gold

o   Meeting points + service points + social event points = 12 total points

                       Platinum

o   Meeting points + service points + social event points = 16 total points

*Note:  Only meeting points OVER the required 3 will count toward Gold/Platinum status.  For example, if one attains 5 meeting points for the semester, only 2 of those will count toward Gold/Platinum status.
